Day trips up the Kauri Coast – Natures Mecca
The Kauri Coast offers you a peaceful environment where you can hide amongst the bush clad hills, explore the West Coast and take a glimpse at the way New Zealand used to be.
Here you will also find many charming small towns nestled amongst the banks and upper reaches of the Kaipara Harbour.
During your stay with us at Matakohe Holiday Park in Matakohe, visit the Ancient forest Of Waipoua. Discover Tane Mahuta (Lord of the Forest) and New Zealand's largest known living Kauri tree. Stop off at the Kai Iwi Lakes for a swim, or the Ripora beach for a walk or swim in the ocean.
Coming back there is Nelson kauri crafts, Rick Taylor wood turners and the Dargaville Maratime Museum to finish the story of the Kaipara Harbour.
